A Brief Understanding
What Is TMS THERAPY?
What is TMS Therapy?
TMS or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a technology that uses a highly focused magnetic field that stimulates or inhibits stimulation of nerve cells in the area of the brain being treated.
The coil is the part of the TMS machine that touches the head and generates brief magnetic pulses which pass easily and painlessly through the skull and into the brain.
The pulses are generated by the same type and strength magnet as those used in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) device.
Depending on which procedure is used, a pulse or pulses are delivered to the area of the brain being treated. If pulses are administered in rapid succession, it is referred to as “repetitive” or “repetitive TMS “ or simply “rTMS.”
TMS Therapy for depression is achieved by simulating the mood center of the brain, repetitively. During the course of treatment the brain awakens by releasing natural chemicals that control depression and anxiety, along with other physiological benefits, without medicine.
TMS is an FDA-approved and research-based treatment for individuals with depression. It is viable and safe for those who have not benefitted from antidepressant medications, cannot tolerate antidepressant medications due to side-effects or prefer an alternative approach to depression treatment.
TMS Health and Wellness continues to advance treatment alternatives by offering both rTMS and Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (dTMS) utilizing the latest H-coil technology.
Through TMS treatment, the brain begins to heal itself. TMS Therapy is performed by prescription only under the supervision of a doctor while you remain awake and alert. TMS is a non-medicine, non-invasive treatment for Depression.
TMS Health and Wellness enhances TMS by incorporating research-based protocols, life coaching skills, and meditation. Our center has documented a success rate that is 3 to 3.5 times higher than suggested by the FDA.
